Affiliate disclosure: Same Sample may earn a commission from some links on this page. The commercial relationship is stated next to each product, and products we have no approved affiliate relationship with carry ordinary links. Affiliate status and commission rates are not inputs to the scoring model.
Same Sample sets no cookies, runs no analytics, and has no forms, no accounts and no newsletter. Reading this site leaves no record with us beyond what our host records to serve the page. The one thing you should know about is what happens when you click a link to a vendor.
What personal data does Same Sample collect?
None that we choose to collect. There is no analytics script, no advertising pixel, no tag manager, no session recording, no heatmap, no chat widget, no embedded video and no third-party font. The pages are static HTML files served from a content delivery network.
This is a statement about the current site rather than a promise about the indefinite future. If analytics is ever added, this page changes first and the update date at the top moves with it. If a change would be material, it will also be listed on the corrections page.
Same Sample writes about the business of collecting other people's contact data. Running a page that quietly assembles a profile of the reader while doing so would be difficult to defend, so the site is built not to.

Does this site use cookies?
No. Same Sample sets no cookies of any kind, which is why there is no cookie banner. There is nothing to consent to, so asking would be theatre.
Local storage and session storage are not used either. The single piece of JavaScript on the site does one thing: when you arrive from an advertisement, it removes the tracking parameters from the address bar so they do not sit in your browser history or get copied into a link you share. It does not read them, store them or transmit them anywhere. Every word of every page renders without JavaScript running at all.
Third parties are a different matter, and the next section covers them.
What does the host record?
Same Sample is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes the network-level information needed to deliver a page and to defend the site, including IP address, user agent and the URL requested. All of that sits at the infrastructure layer, not in anything we wrote.
We do not run queries against those logs to build reader profiles, and we do not export them anywhere. Cloudflare's own handling of that data is governed by its privacy documentation, linked below.
If you would rather not appear in those logs at all, a VPN or the Tor Browser will do it. Nothing on this site is gated, so neither will cost you access.

What happens when you click a referral link?
You leave Same Sample and arrive at the vendor's own site, where that vendor and its affiliate network set their own cookies to record that the visit came from here. Same Sample receives no personal data back, only an aggregate count of referrals and any resulting commission.
Every product link on this site carries rel="nofollow noopener", and a link that genuinely earns a commission also carries rel="sponsored". A link that earns nothing never carries the sponsored value, because labelling an ordinary link as paid would be a false statement to both readers and search engines.
The commercial relationship is printed immediately above every product link and takes one of three values: approved affiliate, application pending, or none. Most products on this site earn us nothing.
If you would rather not be tracked by a vendor, do not use the link. Every product on the site also shows the vendor's plain domain, and typing it into the address bar reaches exactly the same page.
What happens to your email if you contact us?
Your message sits in an ordinary mailbox for as long as needed to deal with what you wrote about, and is used for nothing else. Your address is never added to a mailing list, never sold, and never passed to a vendor discussed on this site.
Corrections correspondence is kept because the corrections page exists to show what changed and when, and a claim that a figure was corrected after a reader reported it should be checkable. What gets published there is the substance of the correction, never your address or your name unless you ask for credit.
Does Same Sample hold personal data as part of its benchmark?
Yes, and this deserves a direct answer rather than a buried one. The benchmark measures tools that find work email addresses, so running it necessarily means holding a sample of real people's names, employers and published work addresses.
The sample is built only from addresses a primary source has already published: commit metadata on public code repositories, corresponding-author lines on scientific papers, company press pages and conference speaker pages. Nothing is scraped from a private profile and nothing is bought from a data vendor.
The sample is never published. Not the names, not the addresses, not the source URLs. What gets published alongside each benchmark edition is an anonymised dataset carrying result classes and stratum bands only. Two of the vendors tested also forbid republishing records their service returns, which is a second, independent reason the raw results stay private.
No email is ever sent to anyone in the sample. Same Sample does not measure deliverability and does not test addresses by mailing them.
If you believe you are in the sample and want out, write to the address on the contact page and the record will be removed and replaced. You do not have to explain why, and you do not have to prove the address is yours beyond being able to receive mail at it.
What rights do you have, and how do you use them?
Under the GDPR you can ask what personal data is held about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, object to processing, and complain to your national data protection authority. Write to cuongtran@samesample.com and the request will be answered within 30 days.
In practice, for an ordinary reader, the answer to a data request will be that nothing is held, because nothing is collected. The requests that actually have something to act on are those from someone in the benchmark sample, covered in the section above.
Same Sample is operated by one person, Cuong Tran, who is the controller for the purposes of the GDPR. There is no data protection officer, because the scale of processing here does not require one.
You do not need to go through us to complain. Every EU and EEA country has a supervisory authority that accepts complaints directly, and the European Data Protection Board publishes the list.

Anything else worth stating?
Two things. Same Sample is aimed at people buying business software and is not directed at children. And this policy will change when the site changes, with the update date at the top of the page moving each time.
A change that materially alters what is collected will also be recorded on the corrections page, so the history is visible rather than silently overwritten.

- Because Same Sample sets no cookies. A consent banner asks permission for something that is not happening here, so showing one would be misleading rather than compliant.
- Does Same Sample sell reader data?
- No, and there is nothing to sell. No analytics, no pixels, no forms, no accounts and no mailing list means no reader dataset exists in the first place.
- Am I tracked if I click through to a vendor?
- Yes, by that vendor and its affiliate network, on their own site. That is how a referral is attributed. Same Sample receives an aggregate referral count, not your identity. Typing the vendor's domain directly avoids it entirely.
- How do I get removed from the benchmark sample?
- Write to cuongtran@samesample.com from the address in question, or naming it. The record is removed and replaced, no reason required. The sample itself is never published in any form.
